Course Description:
This 3 day basic course is designed to instruct participants in recognizing potential security threats and how to safely and methodically administer law enforcement networks. Training includes instruction on network essentials, communications, services, risk/threat analysis and the need for a strong network security model. Participants will get hands-on experience with security threats, security tools, vulnerability assessment, network topology, and router configuration. Attendees will learn how to analyze networks, assess security, neutralize vulnerabilities, reduce downtime and liability, and develop policies and procedures to maintain secure environments.

Students must:

  • Have basic computer literacy
  • Be familiar with basic OS operations
  • Be familiar with basic file system / user operations (navigation, copy paste, etc
  • Possess basic networking skills (navigate, search, identify basic components etc)
  • Be authorized to perform the implementation of the security measures taught in the course.
